Writing of some sort or another has been part of my daily routine throughout my career.  A life-long city boy, my first job out of college was as editor of the Maryland Farmer.  While at grad school at Duke, I covered the religion beat for the Durham Herald-Sun.  I've written my share of press releases and marketing collateral, if not completely dreck certainly ephemeral.  Here are links to some creative nonfiction:

"Cutting Through the Smoke" (Johns Hopkins Magazine...I think I like the layout more than the piece)

"Hard-Wired to Heal" (Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Magazine)

"Black Infiniti" (City Paper)

"University Press or Teaching Press?" (Tampa Review Online)

"Paying For It" (What Weekly)
